Your Diaconate Board is here for you. We want you to know us better and know how to contact each of us.
Jeanette Calixto, Vice Moderator, is married to Debon and has 2 children and 1 granddaughter. She works as the University Registrar at Holy Names University. She is involved in the Praise and Worship ministry, leads the iWalk young adult group, and serves on the CE Team.
Wendy Van De Veer is the mother of 2. She works for Alameda County Social Services as a Specialist Clerk II. She chairs the Stewardship Department and is a long-time member of the FBCA softball team.
Dave Maxcy is married to Ruth and has 3 children, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He is retired after 35 years in the Navy and NAS aircraft repair. He chairs the Pastoral Search Committee and volunteers at Ruby Bridges Elementary. He has volunteered many hours in building and repairing our church, the camps, and other areas hit by natural and manmade disasters.
Doug Siden is married to Marilyn and has 4 children and 11 grandchildren. He serves on the Board of Directors of East Bay Regional Park District and is a retired regional staff member of ABCW. He is a member of the Pastoral Search Committee, and is involved with Seafarers Ministry and several other civic organizations.
Chuck Myers is married to Wendy and has 2 children. He works for the U.S. Department of Agriculture preparing research contracts. He is involved as a sound tech and is a member of the Pastoral Search Committee.
Mike Velasquez is married to Diana and is a brother and uncle to many members of the congregation. He chairs the Property and Maintenance Department and volunteers many hours to keep both the inside and outside of the church in good repair.
Joe Owen, Member Emeritus, is married to Pat, and almost all of us at FBCA claim them as family! He began his first term of service on the Diaconate Board in 1946, as its youngest member. Joe has chaired Outreach, Maintenance, and Search Committees, has been Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, and has served as Moderator. He currently leads the Greeters’ ministry and has gifted many of the church’s new babies with beautiful wooden chairs.
Liliana DaValle, Interim Pastor, serves as a member of the Board by virtue of her position as Senior Pastor.
Meetings of the Diaconate Board are regularly scheduled on the
3rd Thursday of January, March, May, July, September, and November at 7:00pm.
All members of the church are welcome to attend. Anyone with an agenda item to bring must be present at the beginning of the meeting to be placed on the agenda.
