See and Follow -Joshua 3:1-6
The Lord sent Joshua into the Promised Land with specific instructions: See the ark of the covenant and follow it. God also gave him a warning: you have never been this way before. As a church, we are also in front of new things. We have heard of the challenges of this 21st century and of our need to capture God's vision for us. During this spring we will work hard at envisioning our future as a congregation; but what are we to do with that vision? The answer comes clearly from the sacred text: Follow it!
To follow our new vision will mean to step into new things, to change our mental models of what a Christian church is, and to make renewed commitment to live "in between." None of us know how to do that, or how will it look when we are there. We are embarking on a journey onto uncharted territory. There are two things we can do with God's invitation: One is to be very scared and get paralized; the other is to be very excited and get going. What will it be, church?
