Between the Old and the New - Matthew 5:17-20

One of the great controversies in the times of Jesus was the issue of continuity and discontinuity. Did Jesus come to start something completely new or to validate the old? The answer is "yes." Jesus said that his new thing - his kingdom, his teachings, his new way - were built on the foundation of the old - the law and the prophets.
From architecture, we can learn how a blending of the old and the new can produce better and healthier results, than just destroying the old to build the new. Jesus taught us a new thing that is as old as the universe itself: the way of love.
